The Chieftest Mourner- Aida Rivera

  1. The story simply describes the situation of couples which are not contented with each other and mostly the husbands found their happiness in other women. It is happening nowadays, maybe because some of the wife did not do their part to their husbands well. We cannot blame the husbands which often lived with their mistress because they are longing of care and love. Rights are very important, we do have our own rights and we can fight for it like what the legal wife did in the story. I realized that even if you gave your very best for a person, but if you are just a mistress in the end you are still loser. Being a mistress is not really good especially to the eyes of other people and sometimes people hate them. I therefore conclude that we, women must be the legal one and must be very lovable to our future husbands so that they will not find another one.

  2. The story all about the man who have wife but find another girl because he want to be more happy to other. This boy was not contented with her wife. In the ending the second wife give way to first wife. And also the title of this story was all about the last woman in the funeral who vegelled. The climax of the story is when the two wife meet in the funeral of their husband. The lesson that I've learned from the story is that we should only one wife and be contented with one wife.

  3. The story was all about a poet who married woman and when the time goes by, the great poet left his wife for another woman. For me, the poet did the wrong thing. He left Sophia alone and heartbroken. And if you are only a mistress you are very pity because you are not the legal one. And the legal wife should do their best so that their husband will not leave them. I realized that poet deserves what he got in the last part of the story because he was not contented of what he have and he left his wife.

  4. The story is based on the real life scenarios. It focuses on the conflicts that is usually happening inside the family. As we can see, it is not good to solve problems by finding an another woman because it could definitely ruin your family. Being a mistress also is a sin! I like the story because it could bring lessons to those women who became a mistress, that their relationship with a man who is married could only bring down their dignity as a woman.

  5. The story of "The Chieftest Mourner" is really happening in the true life scenario where two woman are in love with only one man. The man will have to choose between his wife and his mistress. It is unfair on the side of the mistress because it is her who helped that man in times troubles and problems. For me, being an illegal wife, it's not acceptable although she did a good thing because in the eyes of the people and in the eyes of God, it is big sin.

  6. The story of "The Chieftest Mourner" that was written by Aida Rivera is really happening in real life. In the story the wife and the mistress fights in who will get to stay in the funeral. But in the end the mistress give way and she leaved the funeral. There are times in our life that we commit mistakes not knowing what would it bring to people around us. For me, what the mistress did in the story is just right it's because she's just the mistress and not the legal wife although she was the one who took care of the man when he was sick.

  7. The story entitled "The Cheiftest Mourner" is a very interesting and a confidential story in a sense that it tackles on certain issues about love and marriage. In the story, the society has become the judge on who should be the receiver of the honor of the late poet. Based on the law, it was the legal wife who should be honored, but based on love, it was the mistress who deserves it more. Sometimes, feelings could be confusing to the extent that you should choose between the one you love, and the one that you SHOULD love. But the story clearly tells us in the end who is the cheiftest between the two.

  8. I can say that this story 'The Chieftest Mourner' is kind of realism because most of the scenario in the story is happening in the real life. A married man looking for another woman just because he has his what we call 'personal needs' that his wife cannot give and he found it in other woman. We call them mistress or third party. Some of them are happy of what they are because they think that they fulfill the need of their man wherein their wives cannot. But as a mistress, no matter what you do and how hard you try to make your man happy still, in the end it's not you who will be recognized it is and it will always be the legal wife. In this story wherein the mistress of the late man who was also a poet just gave way to the first wife of the dead during the vigil I think it is because she know that she was just the other woman and she cannot replace the first wife in the eyes of many people. It was entitled 'The Chieftest Mourner' because in the end it shows who cried and left to vigil for him.

  9. As what I've understand from the story, during the burial the legal wife returned to visit his wife lying in the coffin with a hidden purpose, to get the part of the belongings his husband left. It just only means that the wife went back to claim her inheritance. The legal wife portrays practicality towards things. I can say that she loves her husband and she wanted to get her part to have something which she can use in her living. She has also the right over the mistress in the story. In this situation, mistress is in defeat than the legal wife for the legal wife was married legally to her husband not like the mistress. These are all true that in this crucial place we live in we need to be practical at least with things.Sometimes we become choosy of things and we forgot the values and right manners towards it.

  10. As i heard about this story, it tells about the situation of couples who didn't sure their feelings towards each other. On my observation her husband find another girl in-order to fulfill his need in love, so its mean to say that her husband are not contented of the love she gives , which is very wrong because in the first plase, you marry that person and you've promise to each one onother that you'll be together for the rest of your life. I like this story its because nowadays it would really happend to us so this one of hint, also this story are not really good for us single its because its very bad influence.

  11. The story emphasize the importance of family. Every scenario that happened in the story was based on real situation that is happening nowadays. Each member of a family plays an important role to make the family happy and progressive. But, we cant deny the fact that when we talk about family, there are members that play his/her role beyond its boundary, and that's what the husband done in the story. But we can,t him because he does not find his happiness with his wife that's why he decided to find another girl. In the last part of the story, the real wife has consider to be the shiftest murner.

  12. The story shows the conflict between the couples nowadays. Its the reality that anyone has there own decisions to love those people who make them happy. Being married to someone you love is not enough if both of you are not satisfied with each other. Though the children belong in the family are the one who suffered. We just need to be responsible enough for the sake of our family and try to be contented of what we have.

  13. The story "The chieftest mourners" talks about a confidential thing in a relationship. It is really happening in reality. It talks about how the husband betrayed his wife, for the reason that his wife cannot understand him. That's why he find another girl who can accept and understand his situation. And it is not a good idea because it is violent in the eyes of the God. Also it is violates the rules of marriage.

  15. The story "The Chieftest Mourners",emphasizes the conflict in a relationship. It tackles about the marriage which is there is a misunderstanding between a wife and a husband. The reason that the husband betrayed his wife its because they didn't understand each other, because of some reason. That's why the husband find another girl who can care and understand him. It affects the members of the family especially the children that they'd see the situation of their parents. For me, it is not a good influence in the eyes of the children because it might be they'd follow their parents and it is not a good idea.

  17. “A few stolen moments is all that we share
You've got your family, and they need you there
Though I've tried to resist, being last on your list
But no other man's gonna do
So I'm saving all my love for you.” These are just part of the lyrics that we can compare to the story entitled “The Chieftest Mourner" highly written and proudly produced by Aida Rivera. It’s about the poor mistress who loves a man whom has a legal wife. This mistress fall in love with the man, that all of her attentions are fully given to the one she loved. Conversely; the man felt this too, that he felt in love with someone in a wrong time and fall out of love with someone he thought forever will stay in his side. Well, the point here is that, how hard you try to do something even thick or thin, still the legal individual would be the chieftest of all.

  20. The story talks about whose the best girl for the man who is famous writer during his time. He had two woman in where fighting for the honor of being the chieftest mourner. The first is the his legal wife but he never felt the love with her 'till he find another one. This another one was his second one in which always there in his side if he need a care until in his last breath. She deserve to be the right woman for him but she can't ignore the truth that she is only the second and they never entered the marriage. She fight for it but she lose.

  21. In the story of Aida L. Rivera, "The Chieftest Mourner", it shows about the conflict between the two women over a one man. The other woman is the true wife, while the other is not. Which do you prefer the one who is the wife which has no respect to her husband or the other, who gives care and importance during his burial? Which one do you prefer? If I were to choose, I will not be in the side of the wife even if she has the legal right for her husband but where is she during those time that her husband got sick, unlike the other woman, who gives love and care for him, who support and always by his side until the last minute of his life. It’s not about the right and honor of the one who is suitable for the position, but it’s about how you give love and sentiment to such.

  22. The story of 'The Chieftest Mourner' written by Aida L. Rivera is the story where the husband was seeing another women because he think that being with his wife was a misserable day for him.The story tackles about love and marriage. The content of this story is they were all fighting between the mistress and the wife of poet to whom the body of the late poet must be but in the case of this story the mistress was in the side of the the late poet when he was in sick and the wife did'nt know where his husband is.But when we follows the rights of this story it must be on the real wife should own the the late poet and not to his mistress. It is typical to understand this story but in total this story give us a lesson that even if you love the other person who is not legally married to you, you have no choice and you have to turned to your real wife and family and for the mistress i salute him for his very kind to understand the situation and he give way for the real wife.

  23. In the story I like the style of the author, because she is the one who tell the story. In the story I don't like what the first wife did to the second, she should give her a chance to attend to the last burial. I don't really like story, it is sad and i feel what the author write, because of the way she tell it.If I am there in the story I will talk to the second wife and praise what she did to the poet, when he is sick, because as what I have observe no one recognize what she did. The story is making a conflict, specially in the burial, because as what i have notice the group is divided into two, all I can say is they must comfort each other instead of quarrellings, to give respect to the burial of the poet. I realize that respect is imporatant so that other will respect you.

  24. The story entitled "Chieftest Mourner" was simply describes the situation of the couple which the husband are not contented to their partner, and find their happiness to the other girl. Aida Rivera was able to present the story that was really happening in a real life situation. This story is excellent inasmuch as it can touch the emotions of its reader. By this story I realized that not all the mistress have no reputation because some of them fallowed their feelings even though they knew that it is wrong to have relations in a husband of others. Being a mistress imparts an ugly impression to the eye of the people but the question is, they really knew who you are? because some are going to judge the physical attributes and make their conclusion.

  25. In the story entitled " THE CHIEFTEST MOURNER" talks about the conflict of a one relationship. Its the reality that anyone has there own decisions to love those people who make them happy. But sometimes those decisions we've done may cause conflict in our partnership. In the story the boy are not contented with his wife. And it is bad that he is not contented that may cause of some unexpected decision. In the last part of the story. The second wife finances during his life in the hospital and all. So in the wake the second wife summarizes what she did in order to let them know on how important she is and to prove to them that she has a great right to the dead body of the poet rather than the legal wife.It is sad in the second wife part because she suffer more in taking care of the boy she love. But in legally aspect the mistress have no right. So she decided to let go. In this story I learned that we should satisfied our partner so that they don't find another.

  27. In this story Aida Rivera uses 1st person-I,she includes herself in the story by narrating what happened. She was able to illustrate to us the competition and rivalry between the legal wife(no.1),and the mistress(no.2). How the mistress struggles and how other people treat her and judge her, without knowing her deeply first, accusing things which are not really true. With that scenario, I felt pitty to the mistress in the sense that everyone doesn't understand what she's been into. It's so unfair for her that the legal wife's family forbid her to attend the last day of the burial of her husband, not knowing that in the times of crisis in the life of aida's uncle she's the one who help him,all her jewelries have been sold just to pay the hospital bills. And even that's the situation anyone of them did not contribute even a single peso, and that's the thing they did not understand and it's really unfair for her. This story generally imparts lesson to us, that we should not be judgmental

  28. The legal wife will be the chieftest mourner when it comes in claiming the honor. Even if the couple had misunderstanding and the husband finds another woman which can understand him, if the husband will die, of course the legal wife will be the one to sacrifice and take charge everything until her husband’s burial. But in this case, I guess the mourner’s sympathy must on the second wife since she was the one who take good care of her husband until his last breath and during his interment. Even if she’s just a second wife, at least she did everything to make her husband happy until his last breath in her side.

  29. The story entitled "The Chieftest Mourner" tells about the real situation nowadays with the couples. It shows the betrayal of a husband to his wife because if he has problems and needs, why not ask his wife so that the problem could be brought out and a solution can be made by the couple. However, the wife has also some shortcomings in which she doesn't realized that she has the responsibility as a wife to her husband. This story reflects the real situation commonly happened in our country. The husband seeks care, love and attention from his wife, that's why in the contrary, he found it compatible to other woman whom he met as the mistress. In line with this, the mistress has just give her love and care which the wife didn't give to his husband.

  30. The story portrays the real scenario of some of the family whose the husband has an affair to another woman. As a woman, my sympathy catches first by the wife; it’s really hurt when you know that your husband has another girl. But I realize that the wife also have flaws to their relationship that’s why the husband do that. But later on, it catches by the mistress whose martyr to live a married man. In the story we can see the pain, that even pride of the mistress was being swallowed to be there and to see the man of his life for the last time. Well, still the story leaves us an idea if it is the legal married wife or the mistress will have the right to this man's life after all.

  31. In this story, the author shows the scenario of marriage life having "third party". It is all about being unfaithful of the husband to his wife for not being contented to his real wife or shall we say, to his legal wife for finding another woman. In this way, children would be affected and can ruin the family. So, I learned something in this author's story, that when you mean marriage, mean it to the fullest.

  32. Who would possibly claim the higher sovereignty, is it the legal or illegal wife? This is just the question that the author leaves us. In this story “The Chieftest Mourner” wherein, it shows a lot of higher treatment of the people to the legal wife than the illegal one. But, it’s really clear that mistress did most of the responsibility as a wife to that man than this legal wife. Well, question from above suggests me to say something and this I can share. When you say marriage, it should be complete, when you mean complete, it should be decided well. When you mean decided, it should be the center, and when you mean the center, faith must be in the center of God. For God knows the secrets of the heart.

  33. This is the story about a man who has the commitment over two women, the wife in a legal way and a wife in illegal way. Wherein, a man gives more attention to this illegal wife as to this mistress. The legal one is being taking for granted for she doesn’t care also to this man. Unexpectedly and unfortunately, man died suffering. The point here is that, the author wants us to answer this question. Is it the legal wife or the illegal can get the higher authority?

  34. Aida L. Rivera is a unique author than the other, she include her selves in the story. the story entitled "THE CHIEFEST MOURNER" is showing conflict between with the legal wife and the second wife of her uncle,it is because of the time when the husband of the two wife is dead. Actually this story i really appreciate specially the scene of dead, even the legal wife did not see his husband for many days but she feel conscience it is because of the love.

  35. The story related on the life of the couple who are separated because of their misunderstanding. There is a tendency that a husband find another to marry and its their own choice. The story The Chieftest Mourner prioritized the second wife because although the man she love already died she still respect and show her love. Despite of all the people around her and even if the legal wife is there to confront her. That is why, in other couple they are separated but because of their children they have to stay in touched with each other to make them happy.

  36. True and lasting love cannot be measured according to its legality alone. Marriage is a sacrament but not an assurance of a happy and stable life because people are changing and may forget their promises of forever. Sometimes, real happiness can be found to other person who made you feel more important and respects you the way you wanted to be respected. It is happening in real scenario that you will only know your partner better if you will live together in one roof just like what happened in the story. The lesson that I have learned from the story is, we should know well the person first before engaging in marriage because not all the time your feelings for today will always be your feelings until tomorrow. Marrying in the wrong time and in the wrong woman is the greatest mistake of the character in the story, however he was still lucky for finding another one who showed him the real meaning of what we called HAPPINESS.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Why find another one if there is already the one? Is it because of dissatisfaction? Or is it just because of lust? Or is it because of not finding the true happiness you are longing for? Husbands or wives should be contented with whatever they had. Since, they were already bounded as one mind, one soul and one heart. But in the story, "The Chieftest Mourner" Aida Rivera's uncle had his mistress. He risks to leave his wife and find another woman who could accept him for who he is. Afterall, he still died with honor ang dignity.

  38. The chiefest mourner is a story about two woman who want to have the right to be the real wife. the man here die and he have two woman. The one who she marry and the one who take care of him when the time his wife let her. In the funeral, I like what the other girl did. she let the real wife be the chiefest mourner. And this is what you called real love that the real wife don't have.

  39. As my observation on the story, we must be contented of what we have especially in our family. Some couple now have a problem in their family. Some husbands or wives are finding someone who can make them happier. They don't know what is the real value of a couple. I hope this will be a lesson to the couples who are not contented to each other.

  40. Adultery is the most pressing issue in our society.A lot of married people commit this kind of sin because they are not satisfied nor find happiness with the side of their partners. It is very disgusting that people forget one of the important commandments given by God which is "Thou shall not covet thy neighbors wife".In the case of the story "The Chieftest Mourner",the man commits adultery because he can't perform his responsibilities at the same time.Being a husband and a great poet is a very confusing job that's why sometimes his wife didn't understand him.He was force to leave his wife because he want a partner who is willing to share with him in times of sorrow and happiness. As a reader, I learn that entering into a marriage life should be planned and prepared physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

  41. as i listened to the reporter, many things came up in my mind... it is because this story happens in reality. most men of today are not contented of loving one person. men today are committing adultery because of many unacceptable reasons. does real love really lasts forever? i ask my self this question because of this story... yes, love really last but there will come a point that loving could be tiring because of certain circumstances. this maybe the major reason why a man often tends to find another woman. as i internalized about the story, all i can say is that in order for a relationship to last, couples must play their roles in a consistent manner.

  42. The story entitled “The Chieftest Mourner” written by Aida Rivera, talks about love between his real wife and the mistress. The content of this story was the late poet that has been miserable by his wife and found true love in his mistress. This man fell in love with his mistress than his real wife because his wife cannot understand him and she did not give importance, care and love. So the poet found his true love through his mistress. The conflict of the story is that, the mistress has no right to own the body of the late poet because he is not the legal wife. Well, it is not a good example to show every child’s eyes, therefore; we should be careful in our actions to be made and to be done.

    ReplyDelete
  43. How would you treat people like mistress? Well, this question can be related to the story “The Chieftest Mourner”, wherein a guy loves two women at the same time. For me, it’s not so good to hear the single word mistress because it could just bring chaos to the legal family of the guy; it could just bring destruction and can ruin every life of affected relatives of the said family. I know all of us have the right to choose someone we love, but in this case is another thing and that is adultery. Adultery is another thing as I said and that is the exception that when you mean exception, it should not be done into action because it’s one of the commandments of God.

  44. The story of "chieftest mourner" the man not contented of her wife. The story have a real wife and a mistress. That time a real wife is so very miserable it's because her husband have a mistress. In reality the story tell's that man in generation is not contented in one. The generation of the story in "chieftest mourner is not good example in the youth now. As a teenager we must know that a man is not contented.

  45. The story "Chieftest Mourner", is the story between the legal wife and the mistress. the point is, who is the chieftest mourner?, the legal wife who don't care for his husband before he died or the mistress who showed care for the poet before he lost his life?.. the chieftest mourner-is the mistress, since she take care the poet with all her heart, but still it is against the law to be a mistress.
