Mr. .Doran was welcomed and stayed at the boarding house of Mrs. Mooney. Polly Mooney and Mr. Doran have a relationship which after on revealed and the people knew about it. At his stay in the boarding house, he felt tense and worried on his actions. The eyes and ears of the people living there are on Mr. Doran and Polly. There have been intrigues telling that something happened to both of them and personally Mr. Doran himself cannot deny the fact that he abuses the mind of Polly for having an innocent mind and doesn’t know about intercourse. Mr. Doran always thinks of what might happen if he will marry or not Polly Mooney. He has to come up with decision, the decision that Polly and her mother have been waiting for that will serve as reparation of what happened. Though people are talking about them it will never be a means of their break-up for he love Polly Mooney so much.
Acceptance is what everybody wants especially when they feel like they were treated differently, or when there's a distinction happening, or just simply in the case of Mr. Doran. After his confession to the priest, his sin is now clear to him. He keeps on thinking what would be the reactions of the people surrounding him and of course by Mrs. Mooney if they will know what's between him and Polly Mooney. Surely, rumors will spoil and mess up his honor and good name. Those things made him ask himself if he should continue his affair and marry Polly as well or not. He's now doubtful. But on the other side of the coin, if we'll try to ponder the thoughts of Mr. Doran when Polly cried on his side, all he wanted is to be accepted by Mrs. Mooney. He isn't now thinking of the tumors anymore. And after the conversation, Mr. Doran now belongs to Polly's family.He is now accepted. What would we expect of Mr. Doran's feeling,of course, Happiness and contentment. Undeniably, the rumors will still remain affect him but that will just past and soon they'll just live peacefully
Mr. Doran which is the protagonist of the story, is a man of honor. But unfortunately, a man with human faults as well. He had done things out of his mind. He had been flirted by Polly Mooney, and eventually undergo sexual intercourse at the boarding house. Polly Mooney got pregnant, and Mr. Doran has nothing to do but to do his responsibilities and obligations even though he didn't love Polly Mooney at all. For me, Mr. Doran was just forced to maay Pooly, and as what has stated ther, Mr. Doran is a man of honor, so then he was able to take his responsibilities out of what he had done. Becoming a member of the Mooney family is helpless for Mr. Doran, and that's what I've thinking. I think Mr. Doran feels that he is forced to become a member of the said family just to give his child a good future, and so that his name and Polly's family name will not get a certain fame. Mr. Doran is unhappy of what has been the result of having an affair with Polly, particularly being a member of Mooney family.
I think Mr.Doran not feel in love to polly Mooney but he had no choice because he undergo sexual intercourse to Ms. Polly Mooney. The lesson a got in this story is that always be careful to do a thing and think it twice before you made an action, because repentance is always at last.

First of all, every people of the town adore Mrs. Mooney and he think that he could only make ashamed to the family. Sunday, November 21, 2010 THE BOARDING HOUSE In my opinion, Mr.Doran felt happy at the same time frightened in having responsibilities to fulfill in the family. In addition, he became serious in his obligation to recover the damaged reputation that was done. He'll strive more for the progression of his family. And not to be dependent on his mother-in-law. He will not feel insecure in the part of Polly's family and vice versa cause maybe as days past Mr.Doran and Polly's family will be closer than before. And as that days passed their union of love for one another will grow from the small acorn of passion, into a great rooted tree. Therefore, he was very grateful of what he received, a wife and a child that could complete his life. I concluded in the end, that he conquered his fears and faced struggles and challenges bravely.
The story is quiet interesting. It talks about how a daughter handle the situation when it comes in choosing a partner in life. It is the reality that our parents must be involve in every decision that a daughter or a son should made. The story emphasized about a happy go lucky man na na inlove sa girl na mayroong pihikang pamilya. Pero pinanindigan pa rin niya ang responsibilidad. At bilang isang ina, kung para sa kaligayahan ng anak,kahit gaano ka pa kapihikan, kilangang kalimutan ang mga standard sa pagpili ng mapapangasawa ng iyong anak. This kind of short stories gives a good relationship between the author and the readers. In my opinion, the short story was some kinda easy to reflect with because it suites my age and sort of, college life, on the other hand it was uneasy because the story is not finish and is hanging. It highlights the value of limitation and to think twice before doing the act so that no regrets or doubts will occur. On the mother's part, she shouldn't plan or interfere with her daughter's life so that undesired things won't happen. As a young person or a student, I can say that Mr. Doran felt uneasy to be a member of the Mooney family because he is more comfortable as a single person. At first he got worried because of that the family of Polly will got angry to him. Then as he stay at this time to the Mooney family and the Mooney family accepted him, that he will miss for being a free guy to do anything and go anywhere. Beside of missing his single-man days, he cannot hurt the girl or leave it away. For me I can say that Mr. Doran love Polly because he decided to be married to the girl he loved and never got her runaway. Mr. Doran and his family has its own principle that if he got the girl pregnant, he will married it so that he can protect the reputation of his family. He also feel happy because he had been a member to the family to the girl he loved. He adjusted already his lifestyle as a married man and he is excited to be father soon.

We first see him shaving, and he is having great difficulty: last night when he went to confession, the priest dragged out the details of the affair in embarrassing detail. Doran knows now that he has no choice but to marry the girl or run away. He thinks about his job. But his family will not approve: her father was a scoundrel, and her mother's boarding house is getting a bad reputation. Her grammar is bad. Being in that situation Mr. Doran hard time in making up his decision, hes in the state of delima. Thoug he wanted to marry Polley but he’s not comfortable with the background of Pooley’s family..
The story "the boarding house"was such a nice story.The story speaks more about on the social standards public perception and formal sanctions.It doesn't talk about the feelings.Complications starts with those feelings being taken for granted.The story makes me realized that i was to blessed with my mother,aside from my parents are not separated my parents thought me to give more importance on what I feel.Not like Mrs.Mooney who didn't intervene those act which Polly is not comfortable of.She pushes Polly to pursue the relation between Polly and Mr.Duran.For me it is not good,its because making relationship with the person you used not to be with just for the sake of other people to be satisfied.Mrs.Mooney has also got mistakes when she left Polly stop with his office works which is more legible work than helping her in managing their boarding house.I could really include that Mrs. Polly didn't really care for was his daughter fell.And that makes the difference between my mother and Mrs.Polly.Which makes me realized that my mother love me.

For me,Mr. Doran felt uneasy to be a member of a Mooney family. Then he cant adjust himself to be a married man for Polly. He also missed his free and teenage life, like drinking at the Pugad. Then he also missed dating with other girls or friends. He felt disappointed, because he cannot continue his ambition in life. But for today Mr. Doran felt happy because he is with her wife and will have a child soon.

Mr.Doran felt not so happy, because he married polly without love. He married polly not because of love but because polly is getting pregnant. He have no way to refuse it because he is afraid of losing his dignity and because of polly's mother. How does Mr. Doran feel becoming a member of the Mooney family? If I am Mr. Doran i would not be totally happy because I put myself in the situation that I know I am not ready. I know in myself that it is not time for me to handle this kind of situation in life. But what can we do? We cannot go back to the past and fix it. Mr. Doran feel about becoming a member of the Mooney family was so heartbreaking. Even though he committed mistakes of the Mooney family, but still he felt in loved with that girl Polly. He had been boasted of his free thinking an denied the existence God to his companions in public houses. But Polly could make up for loss of her mother’s honor. But because of Doran self-confidence, he faces all the consequences that he did.After those consequences he did, as the time goes by, those mistakes passed a go. In my life I had been in love with someone else, who makes me feel happy, who makes me feel strong even if I’m weak. Who makes me believes that life is so meaningful. You would never know if how a person feels unless you would put yourself in the shoes of that person. This just means that we have to place ourself in that another person’s life to investigate what does he think, do, and how does he feel about something that had made him to do such action or display such kind of behavior. In the question of how would Mr. Doran feel about marrying the land lady’s daughter, the gentleman was put into a situation where he should be choosing his options very carefully. The first option is run away. Indeed easy. But he, as a gentleman has a certain reputation that he should protect. Plus, he works as a clerk where he is most certain that he would lose the job if he put disgrace on his name. Dublin is such a small city: everyone knows everyone else's business. The other option is to marry the girl, Polly Mooney. Polly is a daughter and a product of a broken family whose father is a useless drunkard. Definitely, he is left without a choice but to make this choice.
If I am in the place of Mr. Doran I would be choosing the option where I would be ending marrying Polly. Though it is still not the best to make, but considering that I have broken the rule of celibacy and that I have given in to the worldly delight, I must face the consequences of my sin.
Mr. Doran’s affair with Polly is revealed, Mr. Doran needs to marry the girl in order to preserve his own reputation and livelihood. Even though this story ends with the prospect of marriage, it is not a happy solution, for all three characters are trapped inside the narrow boxes of Dublin society.
I, think Mr Doran should feel upset, because of an early marriage, I know that he is not ready to face a new life, like what happened to him, although he don't like it, but i guess, that's was right, he made a decision which is wrong, that made polly droped her virginity.
So, he must accept the reality that he is becoming a member of Mooney family, because it is for his own safety and reputation to his religion.

Mr. .Doran was welcomed and stayed at the boarding house of Mrs. Mooney. Polly Mooney and Mr. Doran have a relationship which after on revealed and the people knew about it. At his stay in the boarding house, he felt tense and worried on his actions. The eyes and ears of the people living there are on Mr. Doran and Polly. There have been intrigues telling that something happened to both of them and personally Mr. Doran himself cannot deny the fact that he abuses the mind of Polly for having an innocent mind and doesn’t know about intercourse. Mr. Doran always thinks of what might happen if he will marry or not Polly Mooney. He has to come up with decision, the decision that Polly and her mother have been waiting for that will serve as reparation of what happened. After his confession to the priest, his sin is now clear to him. He keeps on thinking what would be the reactions of the people surrounding him and of course by Mrs. Mooney if they will know what's between him and Polly Mooney. Surely, rumors will spoil and mess up his honor and good name. Those things made him ask himself if he should continue his affair and marry Polly as well or not. He's now doubtful. But on the other side of the coin, if we'll try to ponder the thoughts of Mr. Doran when Polly cried on his side, all he wanted is to be accepted by Mrs. Mooney. He isn't now thinking of the tumors anymore. And after the conversation, Mr. Doran now belongs to Polly's family.He is now accepted. What would we expect of Mr. Doran's feeling,of course, Happiness and contentment. Undeniably, the rumors will still remain affect him but that will just past and soon they'll just live peacefully

He had been flirted by Polly Mooney, and eventually undergo sexual intercourse at the boarding house. Polly Mooney got pregnant, and Mr. Doran has nothing to do but to do his responsibilities and obligations even though he didn't love Polly Mooney at all. For me, Mr. Doran was just forced to maay Pooly, and as what has stated ther, Mr. Doran is a man of honor, so then he was able to take his responsibilities out of what he had done. Becoming a member of the Mooney family is helpless for Mr. Doran, and that's what I've thinking. I think Mr. Doran feels that he is forced to become a member of the said family just to give his child a good future, and so that his name and Polly's family name will not get a certain fame. He need to faced it and be a part of Polly’s life even it will contradict his own feeling. Mr. Doran made his decision and stand by it, to be a man with honor, to faced all the circumstances and be strong for all the possible thing may happen of his life with Polly. As I read this story I suddenly realized that it is so difficult to make a decision if we have doubtful feelings and there’s no choice at all. It so hard to marry the person which you never loved, its liked putting your self in prison, but I admired of what Mr. Doran done. He is so braved to face the challenges. The lesson a got in this story is that always be careful to do a thing and think it twice before you made an action, because repentance is always at last.
Mr. Duran felt sad because of what image he will make if you live as a member of Mooney family. First of all, every people of the town adore Mrs. Mooney and he think that he could only make ashamed to the family. Aside from that, he felt sad from his part because he think that Polly that disreputable father. It could be affect to his image as a religious man. He is also not ready who have a family. He want to continue to serve his religion but after all he realize that he really love Polly. He knew that Mrs. Mooney trusted him to be part of Mooney family.

As what happened to Mr. Duran in the story, he came back into Mrs. Mooney’s house maybe to marry Polly and do what is right and to make everyone fair. Although he has a doubtful feeling in becoming a member of Mooney family, he has to do it. He has done a wrongful act so he has to face the consequences that waits for him in committing it.

He is afraid of loosing his honor if he will just leave Polly behind and forget the issues. Sometimes the decision of individuals today about marriage issue isn't base of love but because of responsibility they shouldered for the one person.In Mr. Duran case he is well accepted base to the demonstration of the author in the story because Mrs. Mooney is confident that Polly well have a good life together with him.But I don't think Mr.Duran will be happy in marrying Polly cause as I mentioned above he is just marrying the girl just for his reputation not for the reason of love.
For me I can fell that it would be difficult to be on Mr. Duran's place because it is very different that you entered the kingdom of marriage to be with your love one than marrying someone for honor. He is not happy to be one of of the Mooney Family. And there marriage won't be happy.

Because as a man it is normal for us to feel the fear, especially in this situation. It is hard for a man to feel comfortable to become a new member of the family especially those family you don’t know well. And as Mr. Doran part it is un prepared marriage, he did not expect that it would be happen. And even though he hesitates to make a decision regarding to his problem if he would marry Polly or he would run away, still he choose Polly than to his own happiness. Because he is afraid to lost his honor and reputation in their society. It would be ashamed to his family if he would run away. And as a man I admire Mr. Doran, because he face his responsibility , and being a man its for us to marry the person without love. There for we need to be careful in doing thing. ReplyDeleteAns. In that certain situation most probably the man would be happy because he will be engaged to the woman he love. They will not be separated in the eyes of God. On the other side of the coin, there is a guilt that the man feels because they are not yet supposed to be engaged. The girl is too young to enter that deep relationship. So the man will partially be happy and guilty.
Mr.Doran felt not so happy, because he married polly without love. He married polly not because of love but because polly is getting pregnant. He have no way to refuse it because he is afraid of losing his dignity and because of polly's mother. He should accept the reality that he will be a part of mooney's family,and he became a father of polly's baby. He find strength to marry polly and that strength coming from the child inside the womb of polly. Because Mr. Doran want to clean his image from other people. Maybe after the long time of living in one home, he will be learning of loving polly. That is the time that he will be realize even without love a man can marry woman that is because of big responsibility as a father.

ReplyDeleteHaving an affair with Mrs. Mooney’s daughter, Mr. Doran doubted of marrying Polly because of some factors. Although he must marry Polly to make up the loss of the girl‘s dignity. He wanted to fled to another country, if only he could to escape from his trouble but he has to face the consequences of what they had done. And I could say hat Mr. Doran’s doubt of marrying Polly that would make him of becoming a member of the Mooney’s family because of her disreputable father.

ReplyDeleteA: As what I’ve read in the story. Mr. Duran at first don’t want to marry with Polly, but later on maybe he realized his mistakes. Although he has a doubtful feeling for becoming a new member of the Mooney family, he didn’t do anything but to marry with Polly because he is already committed into a thing which is not right. That’s why if we decide to do something, we need to think of it many times before we let it happen. We need to think first the consequences of it, so that we don’t have any regrets after doing such thing.

ReplyDeleteBecoming a new member of the Moony family Mr. Dora would feel uncomfortable because he just marry not for the reason of love but to care his reputation. But if he would try to love and to be a responsible husband, theres a reason to be happy it his own problem and he is the only one to solve it. If theres a reason to be sad there is also many reasons to smile, if he want to be happy with the girl it’s up to him because the best thing to do in life is to deal what we had to have a happy life. He is the one who get into where he is. He is mature enough to decide what the best thing to do, and the boarding house could be his life he choose. It was the place of everything in the future for he will be happy sooner if he works to.

ReplyDeleteAt first moment Mr. Doran felt uneasy to himself of what is the right things to do. If he made a correct decisions to marry Polly or to runaway. But he realized about his good reputation to be kept and not to ruined it. Also the reputation of Mrs. Mooney that is now becoming fame in her business of the boarding house. But Mr. Doran also felt something unusual to his life. He needed things to adjust from a single man to a married man. But he is happy, because he is now becoming a father in the future, for the fruit of their love in Polly's womb. He made a right decision to marry, for he is already in a right age and he had also a work to support his family.

In my opinion, Mr.Doran felt happy at the same time frightened in having responsibilities to fulfill in the family. In addition, he became serious in his obligation to recover the damaged reputation that was done. He'll strive more for the progression of his family. And not to be dependent on his mother-in-law. He will not feel insecure in the part of Polly's family and vice versa cause maybe as days past Mr.Doran and Polly's family will be closer than before. And as that days passed their union of love for one another will grow from the small acorn of passion, into a great rooted tree. Therefore, he was very grateful of what he received, a wife and a child that could complete his life. I concluded in the end, that he conquered his fears and faced struggles and challenges bravely.
The story is quiet interesting. It talks about how a daughter handle the situation when it comes in choosing a partner in life. It is the reality that our parents must be involve in every decision that a daughter or a son should made. The story emphasized about a happy go lucky man na na inlove sa girl na mayroong pihikang pamilya. Pero pinanindigan pa rin niya ang responsibilidad. At bilang isang ina, kung para sa kaligayahan ng anak,kahit gaano ka pa kapihikan, kilangang kalimutan ang mga standard sa pagpili ng mapapangasawa ng iyong anak.

ReplyDeleteAt first I just read the story I realized that what the end of the story, maybe now it feels like Doran's strange he was in the course and management of the family of her husband. I'm being treated as people too many stories to gorgeous wife that they do or do not like the lifestyle of their family. Will also feel happy with Doran to the new stage of his life because he chose to form a new family and I think significant given his life his family could tell I was not feeling how do I let the compatible answer but I can say that the story given by our teacher to reflect I feel I could feel the person writing this story. We also see the trend of the story of how you start the story in question given the teacher we know immediately that they are relevant to all people.

But my opinion can tells what makes doran fells right now even he had now a new family but the question say "isn't he is happy for now" there are times people married their wife or husband have not a happily ever after it because they are dictates may be by their family but in the case of doran he is happy he got his love ones but he did not know what are policy of that family sometimes we think about before we would go for decision that we makes us failed more than that we should analyze is it good for me or him so i think doran had no sure yet in going this situation but his love to love ones he married him.

Ayon sa kwento, hindi naging madali para kay Mr. Doran ang kanyang desisyon na magpakasal sa anak ni Mrs. Mooney na di Polly dahil sa una, ang agwat ng kanilang edad. Alam ni Mr. Doran na nagiging usap-usapan ang kanilang relasyon ni Polly. May mga ugali rin na medyo hindi maganda, kay Mr. Doran ngunit binabaliwala niya ito dahil mahal niya si Polly.

ReplyDeleteMr. Doran felt so doubtful about himself or his future decision. Because in the first place, he is thinking of the consequences whether to marry or run away from his obligations to Polly. But of course his mind and heart will argue for the said incident. The heart says that he often loved her for the reason that he'd done it to Polly. And his mind dictates that if he will be married, all of his everything would rather done for nothing; it was all over. But the conscience would often occurred when he refused to marry Polly, and the result is he will not be happy. At first, he will not understand the feelings that he had when he becoming the member of the Mooney family, but as the days passes by, he often understands the reality that he became a father of the baby of Polly. And the result of this is he will be learning to love Polly and see the baby growing beside his arms as the time passes by.
If I will be Mr. Duran, i'll just accept the fact that i'm going to marry a 19 yr old girl. kahit alam natin na mali at hindi bagay ang isang katulad niyang matandang lalake. but in the name of love, sabihin nating ganyan or money wag dapat nating pigilan. kahit ano pa man ang sabihin ng ibang tao tungkol sa amin, basta't ang pagmamahal sa isat' isa ay nandyan. gayunpaman, ang sakit na nararamdaman ko at pandidiri sa akin ng maraming tao ay ginagantihan ko naman ng pangako na mamahalin at paninidigan ang pangako. kahit labag man sa kalooban at nakakahiya man pakinggan na ang isang katulad kong may edad na lalake ay papatol sa nag-iisa nilang dalagita. dahilan na rin siguro sa pangugulila kaya ko nagawa iyon. kahit gustuhin ko mang magalit o tumakas sa bangungot ay di ko na lang ginawa dahil ang pagmamalasakit ng isang ina para sa anak ay isng patunay na ayaw nilang masira ang imahe at reputasyon ng anak sa ibang tao.

ReplyDeleteHe was on the stage of doubting, He don't know whats the right decision to risk or sacrifice his ambition or his image would be ruin specifically with Mooney's family. That time the doubt that Mr. Doran feel was change after he talk to Mrs. Mooney. As I can say that he would accept the consequences of having a family and speak with Polly rather than to walk away and leaving his problem that can ruin everything, specially his reputation and for the sake of love to Polly.
Mr. Doran feel now about becoming a part or member of the Mooney's family is such an honor, That he is a genuine and true man, That inspite of everything he has something that he can be proud of. He choose the right decision, Regrets is part of life but if you have the integrity it was all worth it. Its the time of a new beginning or chapter of his life of having a great happy family.
Never waste time that God given to you, Be careful in all your decision in life. Think twice even a hundred times, because your future depends and matters all about your decision in the past.

When he remember the night at the music hall artistes. Where jack had agreat violence and stat threats, Such as that if any fellow tried that sort of a game to her sister he'd bloody will put his teeth down his throat. and because of love he choose Polly.

In my own point of view I can tell that Mr.Doran has this hesitation in marrying Polly, maybe because he feel ashamed of what may people can say. From the story, it says that Mr.Mooney was just using her daughter to get a certain fame for her boarding house. While his father was some kind of a disreputable man. And Polly, was a little vulgar.He was thinking if what is the best thing to do, marry her or run away?. He was worried about the criticism he will take in entering this kind if status. He need to make a decision as soon as possible for him to have a peace of mind. But at the end he comes to a decision, stand and face the consequences of marriage.

I can't find any wrong about marrying Polly, Polly is a beautiful and gorgeous girl. About in the family side of Polly i can't find any problem on being one of them. They are rich and they are becoming famous, that is because of their boarding house. The only problem i can see is that of Mr. Doran, he is hesitating about his decisions on the thing about Polly. I know that he's still hesitant about his love on Polly, but Hello!!!, Mr.Doran your at the verge of losing the age limit men. What's the problem you have a stable job, a big amount of savings, and you'll have the chance of marrying one of the most beautiful girl in town. the thing is that if you'll find yourself running you'll lose everything. Your reputation, your pride, honor, and your life. That's why i can't see Mr.Doran feeling bad, i think he feels lucky and happy. A girl + A family + A chance of owning the Boarding House + Big Credits=Riches and Happiness for the couple...Congratulations Bro....for picking the right decision... Job well done.....

As i obServed in the story. Mr. Doran married Pooley Mooney just to settle things which they shared, to clean his name, his reputation, and to protect his family from Bad fame. But Mr. Duran doesn't knew what's the thruth behind. Their relationship is like a "SET'UP" in the movie that was produced by Mrs. Mooney . What the Director commanded to you, you'r obledge to do so. It also makes the readers reflect on it, in this way the readers respond and cooperate with the author. There free to express their ideas and play with the characters as well. This kind of short stories gives a good relationship between the author and the readers. In my opinion, the short story was some kinda easy to reflect with because it suites my age and sort of, college life, on the other hand it was uneasy because the story is not finish and is hanging. It highlights the value of limitation and to think twice before doing the act so that no regrets or doubts will occur. On the mother's part, she shouldn't plan or interfere with her daughter's life so that undesired things won't happen. She must not control things around her daughter's life, so the daughter of hers will learn things on her own. To sum up, Polly is responsible with her own acts and to keep her life revolving with her own consciousness and way off living her life and finding out things she never knew existed.

Tulad ng istoryang ito, Kung ako si Mr. Duran, at magiging parte ng pamilya ng Mooney sa kadahilanang may pananagutan ako sa pamilya ni pooley para lang hindi madungisan ang aking reputasyon at pangalan tatanggapin ko. ReplyDeleteAs a young person or a student, I can say that Mr. Doran felt uneasy to be a member of the Mooney family because he is more comfortable as a single person. At first he got worried because of that the family of Polly will got angry to him. Then as he stay at this time to the Mooney family and the Mooney family accepted him, that he will miss for being a free guy to do anything and go anywhere. Beside of missing his single-man days, he cannot hurt the girl or leave it away. For me I can say that Mr. Doran love Polly because he decided to be married to the girl he loved and never got her runaway. Mr. Doran and his family has its own principle that if he got the girl pregnant, he will married it so that he can protect the reputation of his family. He also feel happy because he had been a member to the family to the girl he loved. He adjusted already his lifestyle as a married man and he is excited to be father soon.

But he'd become a church-going man with a good job, and he could not risk it. We first see him shaving, and he is having great difficulty: last night when he went to confession, the priest dragged out the details of the affair in embarrassing detail. Doran knows now that he has no choice but to marry the girl or run away. He thinks about his job. But his family will not approve: her father was a scoundrel, and her mother's boarding house is getting a bad reputation. Her grammar is bad. Being in that situation Mr. Doran hard time in making up his decision, hes in the state of delima. Thoug he wanted to marry Polley but he’s not comfortable with the background of Pooley’s family..
The story "the boarding house"was such a nice story.The story speaks more about on the social standards public perception and formal sanctions.It doesn't talk about the feelings.Complications starts with those feelings being taken for granted.The story makes me realized that i was to blessed with my mother,aside from my parents are not separated my parents thought me to give more importance on what I feel.Not like Mrs.Mooney who didn't intervene those act which Polly is not comfortable of.She pushes Polly to pursue the relation between Polly and Mr.Duran.For me it is not good,its because making relationship with the person you used not to be with just for the sake of other people to be satisfied.Mrs.Mooney has also got mistakes when she left Polly stop with his office works which is more legible work than helping her in managing their boarding house.I could really include that Mrs. Polly didn't really care for was his daughter fell.And that makes the difference between my mother and Mrs.Polly.Which makes me realized that my mother love me.

For me,Mr. Doran felt uneasy to be a member of a Mooney family. Then he cant adjust himself to be a married man for Polly. Maybe he will said that he is not really yet ready to be a father of his son or daughter. Mr. Doran also felt worried because he did not know how to be a father and a husband. He also missed his free and teenage life, like drinking at the Pugad. Then he also missed dating with other girls or friends. He felt disappointed, because he cannot continue his ambition in life. But for today Mr. Doran felt happy because he is with her wife and will have a child soon.
Nang magiging bahagi na si Mr. Doran nang Mooney’s family sya ay nalito kung ano ang dapat nyang gawin pakakasalan nya si Polly o lalayo na lang sya dahil hindi sya nagustohan nang mga magulang ni Polly pero wala syang magawa dahil masasaktan nyang lalo si Polly kapag hindi nya ito pinakasalan at mahal naman ni Mr. Doran si Polly kaya ipinag palit ni Mr. Doran ang kanyang trabaho alang-alang sa kanyang minamahal.

ReplyDeleteSi Mr. Duran ay magiging kasapi sa pamilyang Mooney. Ang pakiramdam niya sa ngayon na maging kasapi na siya sa pami;yang Mooney ay nabigla. Naguguluhan siya sa lahat ng pangyayari na sinapit ng kanyang buhay. Hindi niya hamak akalain na ito ay magiging buhay niya. Sa makalawa wala nang dahilan tumkas pa dahil naangyari na ang lahat sa kanila at sa katunayan buntis si Polly. Ito ang pinakamalaking responsibilidad niya at gumugolu sa kanyang isipan at pinakasalan niya si Polly dahil marahil sa kanyang kapakanan, relihiyon, reputasyon, at kultura. I know in myself that it is not time for me to handle this kind of situation in life. But what can we do? We cannot go back to the past and fix it. Instead we must face it not because it is our obligation, but because it is the right thing to do.
Mr. Doran have to adjust himself as becoming a member of mooney family, because there will be lot of changes in his life, from being a single and now being a husband and soon to be a father too.

Mrs. Mooney is giving an opportunity that Mr. Doran can have an advantage to be one of representative for looking forward in someone’s like him. Polly, even though she had no intention for making a relation for somebody, but her mother is just one could make the way where Mr. Doran join their family forever.

ReplyDeleteSi Mr. Doran ay parang ninerbiyos. Dahil hindi madaling makihalobilo sa isang pamilyang hindi mo masyado pang kilala. Dahil sa kanyang ginawa siya ay pilitang maging kasapi nito. kailangan niyang panagotan ang kanyang ginawa. Kahit na hindi pa siya handang magkaroon ng sariling pamilya. Dapat talagang harapin ang kalalabasan ng iyong ginawa kahit na ito ay mahirap tanggapin. Pilit mang talikuran ang isang problema ay hindi ito mawawala. Hindi man handa sa hinaharap ay makakaya rin ito kung may patnubay at matibay na pananalig sa Diyos.
Parang mahirap sa kanyang parte dahil hindi pa siya handa sa mga ganitong bagay na magkaroon ng responsibilidad na kagaya nito at mas pinahirap pa niya ito dahil hindi siya nakipag usap sa pamilya ng babae. Hindi niya alam kung ano ang maidudulot nito. Dahil ni minsan hindi pa niya naranasan magkaroon ng ganitong responsibilidad na magkaroon ng sariling pamilya. Kaya kailangan niya ng patnubay sa may mga karananasan na. He know also that the mooney family will look down him because he don't have enough money to live with pooley. Being married to mr.Duran is not easy because he don't have enough money to to build a family. In behalf his negligence he finally think to marry pooley that's why he face the family of the girl.He proposed to marry pooley to her family.Mr.Duran sacrifice his dignity because of his profession.He face the word married.

for me in the last part of the story it is being said there that Mr.Doran want to speak to polly so if Mr.Doran will became a member of pollys family by asking the hand of polly in her mother he will felt happy and satisfied because he will get tha hand and and heart of the girl he love.but there were times that they cant handle the situation because polly was a young lady that needs more experiences in life.they will be lots of misunderstanding too because they were not really know each other before fully unlike doran who almos knew evreything about the situation in life and about the case of pollys mother it will be really okay because honestly her mother is the reason why polly and doran knew each other until they get each other.other wise doran axcept the situation of polly although he know what kind of pollys family

ReplyDeleteMr. Doran feel about becoming a member of the Mooney family was so heartbreaking. Even though he committed mistakes of the Mooney family, but still he felt in loved with that girl Polly. He had been boasted of his free thinking an denied the existence God to his companions in public houses. But Polly could make up for loss of her mother’s honor. But because of Doran self-confidence, he faces all the consequences that he did.After those consequences he did, as the time goes by, those mistakes passed a go.
In my life I had been in love with someone else, who makes me feel happy, who makes me feel strong even if I’m weak. Who makes me believes that life is so meaningful. Who comfort me when I’m hurt and who wipes my tears when I'm in sorrowful days.
I will do anything to make my girlfriend happy and contented. I’ll also sacrifice all my feelings for the sake of the happiness of my special someone.
You would never know if how a person feels unless you would put yourself in the shoes of that person. This just means that we have to place ourself in that another person’s life to investigate what does he think, do, and how does he feel about something that had made him to do such action or display such kind of behavior.
ReplyDeleteIn the question of how would Mr. Doran feel about marrying the land lady’s daughter, the gentleman was put into a situation where he should be choosing his options very carefully. The first option is run away. Indeed easy. But he, as a gentleman has a certain reputation that he should protect. Plus, he works as a clerk where he is most certain that he would lose the job if he put disgrace on his name. Dublin is such a small city: everyone knows everyone else's business.
The other option is to marry the girl, Polly Mooney. Polly is a daughter and a product of a broken family whose father is a useless drunkard. Definitely, he is left without a choice but to make this choice.
If I am in the place of Mr. Doran I would be choosing the option where I would be ending marrying Polly. Though it is still not the best to make, but considering that I have broken the rule of celibacy and that I have given in to the worldly delight, I must face the consequences of my sin.
Mr. Doran’s affair with Polly is revealed, Mr. Doran needs to marry the girl in order to preserve his own reputation and livelihood. Even though this story ends with the prospect of marriage, it is not a happy solution, for all three characters are trapped inside the narrow boxes of Dublin society.
